Circuit trained upper body, all sets done slow. Picking machines or bars that no one was using. Good change of pace.

Shrug muscle chain felt beat up today.

What the fuck is it with the Fictional Hand Cabal? We get 4 emails within 24 hours, most of it pedantic nonsense. We were told to look for an important announcement. WooHoo. ;) We could hardly wait. We are now given links to training tips (just links to other over-priced inner circle members), product Q&A (Contrived sales pitches), learn about the "Old Time Strongman" (A link to buy books that you can download at no cost) and a gripper hall of fame of some sort. Move along folks.

What the fuck is it with this niche segment of strength training that some are so easily led to throwing money away on this crap? We are in a world of shit.

Time to fry some eggs, if you want the fucking recipe, it will cost you $1495.00, but I will toss in an iPod, loaded with some of my spittle riddled ramblings. ;)

Observations for 2007 so far:

2007 is off to a solid start. Especially for bending. It seems every time we check the forums there is another massive bend being reported along with a VIDEO. We have seen the near elimination of the "Old Time Strongman" acolytes and the gimmick defenders of the "Inner Circle". Take your rectum massaging to that secret Dave L. forum we have been hearing about. ;)

The Mash Monster sign ups are off the charts, this seems to coincide with the fading away of the crush phonies and their dubious claims.

Trap Bar

I've been using the Trap bar for over a month now. My lower back is pretty messed up. This implement has been a godsend. (Aside from the unrivaled reverse hyper machine)
If you have lower back issues, pay attention, movements you could not do before may be a possibility.

Some suggestions:

1. Great for deadlifts - regular, hanging, Romanian etc. I find my lowerback in a better position, and getting great benefit. I keep everything here at higher reps. Get the blood in, do some work, you will see some results. If your lower back is good to begin with, by all means hit it hard with low reps/heavy weight. Just don't be stupid. Great for legs and hips.

2. Upright Rows - good variety. Arms seem to be in a better position.
3. Bent over rows - Excellent hand postion, will be working this in soon.
4. Of course shrugs.

Sunday - 1/21

10 degrees out. Skipped hitting the reverse-hyperextensions in the garage. Will get them later.

Deadlifts with trap bar - 3x20+
I fooled around doing bent over rows with the trap bar. Felt good. I'm going to start working them in for the spring.

Shrugs w/ Apollon's Axle - Overhand Grip - 123x10, 213x5, 283x3, 363x3, 418x3 Hopa!, 363x3, 363x3. If you are doing these, remember this is a TRAP exercise, get a good range of motion.

The Y has a complete set of the York Legacy DB's. The is no sign of the Ivanko Hex Block garbage bells anywhere. Aside from my "grip" critique of the York bells, they are EXCELLENT Dumbbells. Well balanced, great grip, and seem durable. I may grab a few for the cellar. I just will not be cutting them.

Post-Mortem

Lower arms sore from elbows to thumbpads. The shrugs with the Apollons Axle are paying off.

It is clear that the key to thickbar work is incorporating it into your regular weight routine. Especially if you have smaller hands. Anytime your whole body is getting stronger, your grip strength will go up.

The world is full of fat men with tits that do grip, start making a difference. ;)

How much longer

do we have to endure these announcements that the $80.00 skull grippers are on the verge of being sold out?!? Who the fuck is buying this shit? Halloween was fucking MONTHS AGO!

I think I have an idea how Saddam felt when the guys in the "Members Only" jackets were taunting him before the hanging. ;)

A pair of 100's arrived this week. Outside of the "blob" is extremely round (convex). Inside of blob is not round. The inside is FLAT, with a slant, it gets wider towards the handle. Rough coating. All have knurled handles. I will not bring a ruler or a camera. That would be crossing over to "grip-gayness". ;)
