It rained all night and most of the morning. Implements were fierce.

What the fuck is with all the hoopla SPAM email about the goddamn Fictional trap bar? These bars have been readily available all over the internet for years. There is nothing new. We posted about acquiring a trap months ago. My two local fitness places have been carrying trap bars since Jesus was in short pants. Now today I pick up the PL USA at Borders to flip through with my espresso, and I'm greeted with a advert-article about this piece of shit. Now I know why I stopped subscribing. ;)

Look people, don't get your ass reamed with overpriced hype. Shop around.

Bit sore going in. Arms seemed sore from yesterday.

Dialed back a bit this week. Two steps forward, one back. Need to avoid the staleness of the summer from overwork.

Tuesday - Post Mortem

Hands feel pretty good. Surprisingly the right thumb web has been holding up pretty good the past few weeks. That would explain the excellent rides the 2x45 Yorks have been taking. Hand lotion sounds effeminate but it works people.

The left blob work is starting to pay off. It has been worth specializing these past few months.

If you are a hand size whiner, the grip teat is dry, move on.

There is No Quarter in the grip world.

A lotta rain on the way. Lower back stiff. Had to hobble to garage.

Reverse Hypers, 45 degree hypers - lower back much better afterwards.

Grip Training

Right - Plate pinching - Light first half, speed and form. Latter sets 2x45Yorks +12.5lbs platemates for some holds at top. I find that negative holds work best IF you maintain control. Picking them up, letting them go and rapidly following them down to the floor does not work. Pause, SET down.

Left - PDA Blobette Pinch work. Felt pretty good so fooled around with my original Blob50. Got some air with +3.125lbs of Platemates.

Time For the Monthly Cycle of Large vs Small Hand Whining

Another hand size debate has emerged from the grip pus bowl on the GB. Now we must be forced to re-visit the Rolling Thunder records. Look people, hand sizes vary, just like the infernal CoC grippers. This hand size deliberation always turns into a whine-fest. To us, the initiation of hand size divisions is like comparing the Little League to the Majors. Put your friggin time in and worry about getting stronger, instead of wasting energy with this stupidity.

Right - Plate pinching - worked on speed. Then moved to 2x45Yorks with Platemates. Concentrated on breaking from floor.
Left - PDA Blobette pinching - 42.5lbs base weight. Worked up to +11.25lbs of platemates for some solid air.

Went outside to have a cigar and cooldown.

Right - 2x25Yorks - Farmers walked them around the driveway to get a thumb pump.
Left - BLOB50 - Was hosed after the blobette work. A few singles just getting a few inches of air.
Decided to call it a day and finish cigar.

Left - PDA Blobette pinching - same as above

EZ Curls Reverse Curls

Light Plate pinching is usually a York 45 + York 25. If your goal is to pull 2x45's, you need to get used to the torque of the taller plates. Always having a 45 in the mix will get you used to the taller, torue-ier groove. The York 25 is nearly identical in thickness and texture as the York 45. Heavier days will be 45+25 for warm up, then move to 45+45 and Platemates as needed.

The PDA Blobette is at 42.5lbs, on heavier days Platemates are added. Or if the weather is good, I'll go outside and work with the Blob50.

Left - Pinch work with Blob50
Outside humidity higher than yesterday. Frustrating, but reinforces the "squeeze" concentration.

If you are just joining in, I'm left handed. Crush and thick stuff is easier than right, but right is better at pinch. Left is finally starting to catch up on right hand numbers with Blob work.

Got about 4 hours sleep last night. Still cranked up from running the big meeting yesterday.

Hit work around 430AM-ish to get some filesystem dumps.

Reverse Hypers/45 degree hypers

Close Grip Bench w/ Apollon's Axle - 5 sets of 20. Finish with 293. Lack of sleep was making itself known.

Grip Training in Cellar - lots of humidity down there.

Right - Plate Pinching - a few good efforts with 2x45's plus platemates. Moisture was leeching out of the plates.

Left - PDA Blobette Pinching - Base strength coming up. But slippery today.

Went out to the garage to do some left handed work with the GordonV Blob50. 5 deadlifts. Big difference dampnesswise from cellar. SOLID. Pleased with my decision to get a second BLOB50. ;)

Right Hand - Grabbed pair York 25's did a few sets of bent over concentration type plate curls. Thumb ballooned up. I was tempted to carry a pair of York 45's up the steps to the garage, but my laziness won over.

Need to eat and get a nap.

The Old Days

We could not help but notice a recent post on the GB asking where some of the grip monsters of a few years ago disappeared to.

We at Ye Olde Grippe Clubhouse, suspect at first glance that most of the defection was due to
the emergence of "guru's" peddling their ilk and their ball swinging, goose stepping acolytes. But then again we have been wrong before. ;)

New BLOB50 Arrives

When I got home, my new GordonV Blob50 was waiting.
I took it outside to the garage, chalked up and stumbled through
a warmup. I was just getting sore from this morning's session and this
damn thing has to arrive.

I got a few full deadlifts with the Left hand after a sloppy, frustating
warmup.

It is without reservation that we recommend grabbing one of them now.

If you are a ways away, get it anyway, then either deload, do the couch
cushion technique, or get a PDA Blobette. The blobette is nice because
you will be able to hone the "breaking off ground" technique.

I will now light a celebratory La Gloria Cubana Corana Gorda.
