Jumpin' Jesus!

The outclicks have been tremendous for the YORK HANDBALANCING COURSE!

I may have to hire a couple of imaginary people to help me out with the links!

Thursday 8/31

5AM
Lower Back/Ab Circuit
Upright Rows w/ Apollon's Axle - 123x20 183x31 173x20 123x20 Quick Pace. Almost risky picking up coffee mug afterwards.

Now hands are wiped. :O

Fooled with PDA Blobette for about 10 minutes.

More Popping Lunacy

I just saw that a GB member linked to a grip feats video he performed for his MIT class. Tremendous stuff. Some self loathing ass-wipe GB member pointed out that he MAY have used the "popping" technique to tear the 2,000 page phone book. Blah, Blah, Blah. It seems to me that the ones who bequested the "popping technique" with a negative cannotation, are the ones that have DVD-R's to sell or who are nut swingers of those that sell the said DVD-R's.

Watch Clay's video, work your fucking ass off and you will be tearing with the best of them. Just don't get the idea that greasy spoon waitresses will fellate you for doing it. ;)

Time to grab some dinner at the Bad Street Diner.

Wed 8/30

530AM
Cybex - Lat Pull - 3 sets
Cybex - Seated Row - 2 sets
Stacked to 95% to failure.
Hammer Low row - 4x10
Hammer Lat - 3x20
Rope Pull - 3x20
Smith Press/Hammer Press 3 circuits
Light arms

More Nonsense

Sums up the sad state of grip. An abomination. Look, stop wasting everyone's time and do something useful, like clean up your fuking back yard. ;)

Off-Camera deep set, not closed, and braced! Go Hercules!
I might as well give up my goals. This will never be equaled. ;)

Lower Arm Training Article

Rosstraining has a well rounded ARTICLE on lower arm training.

Be sure to check out the forum. Looks pretty solid.

Tuesday 8/29

5AM
Lowerback/Ab warmup

Ax Lever to Front (Arm hanging at side all sets front or back)
x20
12lbs sledge - 5 sets 5 reps peaked at +2.5lbs magnets
Ax to rear - 3x20 - finished +2.5lbs magnets.
Left wrist is still a bit raw on rear movement. Scaled back on both arms. Stick with high reps.

Left Hand - Trainerx20, Shiny #2 3x10 - let reps out until pinky started to slip. Lever work wore crush out good.
Blobbette Holds (44lb base) - 4 singles +1.25lbs

Right - Blobette Deadlifts - +1.25 8 singles.

Levering stuff wore out arms quick.

Someone Who Knows What Hard Work Is All About

The Senator defined the very essence of what is known as GRIP! His finesse with the implements will be hammered into the immortal volcanic rock that birthed Peloponneus. Leave your expensive three foot rope at the door. Just enter with your soul clean and ready to be molded my friends.

To simpler times.

More Analytics

The hits are coming in fast and furious folks! It looks like our links to the Sandow Museum are pretty popular when looking at the search strings that folks are using at Google and Yahoo to find our little kingdom here.

Here is the Sandow Museum Page again, to save yourself some time.

Also the York HAND Balancing link is getting a pile of "EXIT" click activity.

Remember these great works are in the public DOMAIN! Fire up your printers and put together some nice three ring binders of this classic material!

Foot Stomping Backtrack

It looks like one of our "#4 Chasers" is being questioned about his "seasoning" practices on the Gripboard. Our Australian friend claims that he seasoned his #4 from a 3inch spread to a 2.75inch spread, but when pressed for an explanation on the radical reduction, it is explained that the spread is back up to 3.25inches. Evidently it broke out of its makeshift choker and the force caused it to WIDEN beyond its original state! Yeahhhh, riiight.

What a web we weave. It is sad that the foot stomp method has infected a vast majority of grip. Damn PDA and their calibration fiasco.

Sunday 8/27

Saturday 8/26 - Part 2

Hammer Lat Pulls - (The one where you face away from the weights) - 4x12
Other Hammer Lat Pulls 4x12
Smith Press, Hammer Press, Hammer Lateral - 3 circuits
Reverse Curls, Rope Curls, Rope Extension - 4 circuits

Went fairly heavy on the Hammer Lat. The first machine I dont use much. Getting into position is a little complicated. I'm starting to be convinced that the Cybex units are superior.

Saturday 8/26 - Grip

7AM
Lowerback Ab warmup
Grip
Tough to get started.
Trainerx20 Each Hand

Left - #1xspeed/OC, Shiny #2x1 speed/OverCrush
Strap Hold With Nylon Strap and #3 gripper. Weight of Ironmind Olympic loading pin NOT included.
10lbs,12.5lbs,12.5lbs,12.5lbs,12.5lbs,12.5lbs,12.5lbs

Right - PDA Blobette lifts. (44lbs base weight)
Neg/Hold with +20lbs
Neg/Hold with +23.125lbs
Deadlifts worked up to +6.875lbs
4 singles using thumb and last 3 fingers

Nylon strap feels like it is coated with Crisco. Need to be careful with these crush workouts, with all the other stuff, there is a fine line of overdoing it.

Wide pinch coming along. Not bad for under 7.5" hands.

Rope Suppliers

These guys seem to have a better deal on pre-built climbing ropes, eliminate the middle man and save a few bucks.

Wolverine Sports

Personally, I'd go with MCMASTER.COM. Type in "fiber rope" in the search box. 2 inch 4000lb test rope for $2.75 a foot. Yes they will sell you custom cut pieces by the foot. There is enough hardware on that site to rig up whatever you want.

Or just throw a thick towel over a rafter, and have a ball "blow-torching" yourself doing pullups.

Enjoy!

Thurs 8/24

530AM
Lower Back/Abs

Upright Rows w/ Apollon's Axle - 123x20 123x20 143x20 143x20 163x20 163x20
Rest between sets was a mouthful of coffee.

Seated DB Hammer Curls - 2.5" - Ironmind Olympic Husky+PVC - 80x8 80x7

10 Lb Sledge Lever (arm hanging at side) Front-2x10 Rear-2x10

Right On Schedule!

Good to see a thread start up about the NEW Ironmind Rules and the #4! I know it is usually the #3, but close enough.;) Let's sit back and enjoy this latest grip epic unfold.

UPDATE: Now we have revived the #3 "Setting Poll", an "out of the package cert" tirade, and the beginnings of belittling Joe Kinney.

This type of discussion defiles what gripdom was meant to be.

APO PANTOZ KAKODAIMONOZ!

Used the Cybex Lat pull and Cybex Row machines for a change of pace. They felt pretty good. Resistance seemed much more even through the ROM as opposed to the Hammer Strength units.

Tuesday 8/22

Bagged the morning workout. Opted for 2 extra hours in the sack. Hit it after work. 430PM

Arms felt a bit tweaky going in. Decided to dial it back.
Left - Shiny #2 - 8 speed overcrushes.
Did some Iromind Tug work for thumb. Then last 2 fingers.
Skipped the block work. Still felt a little overextended.

Right - PDA Blobette (44lbs base weight) - 8 full deadlifts. Ending with +5lbs in magnets. This fuking thing is harder than the Blob50 and the few York's I have tried.

Total time about 15-20 minutes.

I just noticed I hit lowerarms 8/17,8/18,8/19,8/20, and 8/22. Will be nothing but Jack's Blue Heat and relaxation until Thursday.

Good to see the "palm the basketball thread" is still percolating. If George Jowett were still alive, I'm sure he would have addressed this topic in one of his courses.

A newborn thread is inquiring why there is not a Monsters of Mash publication, you know because of all the IM rule changes.

Stick a fork in that goddam place.

What the Frig Is This?

Another Hand Size Thread

has started on ye olde gripboard. Where the fuck are the moderators!

To review people: If you can pick up a Trainer and close it with the credit card set, you can do the same with a #3. Of course you will have to work your balls off. It is a #3, it is SUPPOSED to be hard. Unless you are one of the dullards who insists on jumping up and down on your gripper to "season" cough..bend..cough..damage..cough..deform..it.

Times like this I miss the rantings of the retired lunatic strength coach. ;)

Great Phone Book Tearing Video

I just again stumbled across Clay Edgin's EXCELLENT phonebook tearing video on Youtube. This is some of the best tearing you will ever see. He has some of the strongest hands on the planet.

Some will have you believe that you need to throw money away on a DVD to see "old-time secrets" to learn how to tear a fucking phonebook. There is no room for this "Templar Knight" covertness in the brotherhood of grip. ;)

BUT remember, you are only tearing a phonebook, if you are trying to bed a woman, try something else.

Enjoy!

Bow Your Heads People!

I see that the legendary grip-guru of Michigan Football fame is now checking our humble village of grip. Welcome!

Good luck with Kung Fu magazine! I look forward to viewing another DVD filled with snorting and ranting about how the strength game of today has completely lost it. And of course how those who "pop" phonebooks just don't get it.

I'm sure I'll be the target of the next sloppily written email ad volley.

;)

Interesting SPAM

Just got an email from our favorite inter-net huckster. He tells us that the "Human Vice" is featured in a small article at Kung Fu Magazine! And we learn that our favorite huckster will be doing some special stuff in the future with King Fu Magazine! Great now this pinhead is sending me spam to tell me of an ad that is appearing in a second rate martial arts magazine that is disguised as an "article".

...the inter-net... needs policing ... the iron game does not forgive... or forget...

:)

So...

The moronity continues on our favorite grip forum:

We now have a thread/poll on who can parallel set, credit card set, table noset, ad nauseum the #3 CoC gripper. These threads are usually started by someone who has grown frustrated in their progress and they need to feed off of other's same frustrations.

The poll starter is surprised more people answered with the wider set.

- Throw your grippers away, you will not last - either injury by doing negatives with too large of a gripper or over training will claim this poor bastard.

Another thread on crushing an egg? What the christ!

Someone needs advice on where to eat in Pittsburgh. Let me think you are on a computer, and your are one click away from google and you are asking this question?

All we are missing is the weekly asking for prayers, or an evolution debate and our training arsenal would be complete.

Definately the number 1 place for Grip Strength!

;)

Back To Reality

Look, to the "new visitors", don't just drive by (as much as I like the ad revenue), read some stuff, you may learn something. If you disagree, fine. I do not give a shit. BUT over the past year I have seen the gripboard slide into newbie whiny ranting, it is time to get back to training advice/discussion.

If I have to see one more link to the fat moron bench pressing the van, or that sickly indian guy and his 300lb wrist curl I'm going to jump off my stoop.

This trend of out of shape men only working their forearms is pathetic. Some of your videos get me sick.

Oh and I do work my legs. It is just too boring to enter it in here.

Well anyhoo, welcome.

Thurs - 8/10

5AM

Upright rows w/ Apollon's Axle - 123x10 173x10 243x10 193x10 173x10 123x10
Quick pace.

Seated DB hammer curls - Ironmind Olympic Husky DB w/2.5" handle - 92.5x3 93.75x2.
Bit of improvement, upright rows knocked my cock off.

It is amazing how much harder working with fat handled equipment is, as opposed to regular barbells and dumbbells.

Deadlifted (right hand) and farmer walked BLOB50 off mat area to make some room. For me the PDA Blobette is MUCH harder than this. The Blob50 is still a beast.

Left Hand - PDA Blobette - negative/holds worked up to +10lbs in Platemates

Right Hand - 6 full deadlifts, then +20-5/8lbs in Platemates for a hold.

Screwed around with a IM Tug for more thumb work.

Thick bar work is paying off.

Also mixed it up "Jerry Springer" like with the #4 gripper for 60 bouts. ;)

Days Like This

I get a little sentimental.

People:

Doing a few dozen chinups is not that impressive. Spend some time in a real gym.

I'm not doing a video, the guys I workout with would think I went Gay Power Bear. It just would not be right with George Frenn recently passing.

Also I have been lifting on and off for nearly 30 years, benching 225 for a lotta reps is pretty easy. People can do piles of pushups also.

Grip people view the world with such skepticism.

What is it with

these people who take a few months off, then need to announce on every board that they were remotely a member of, to announce they are back. I DID NOT NOTICE. Get off your stool of self-importance. I love when they had to "take care of personal business". Yeah, you're the only one with problems.

I also noticed someone uses the tagline "GNC Grip Gauntlet Destroyer". I seem to recall that the GNC people let this joker close a #2 gripper and pick up the 50lb York Blob with 2 hands, and do a negative hold with one hand. It was officially termed as an EASIER feat. They needed to drum up business at the booth. Understandable, BUT destroyer and grip do not belong in the same phrase with this guy.

The grip world is going to shit.
