We just reviewed the results from the Gripmas contest. The numbers are incredible. Jedd's Official 2 hand pinch record of 256+ just set the benchmark for the next decade. So much for the beliefs of the "old guard" that there is no legitimacy to the so called "backyard contests".
We eagerly await following the 2 Hand Pinch record's ascent to 270.

Good to see the continued indifferent reaction to the Kinney DVD on the GB. We are wondering how long it will be before the secret gripper Mr Kinney has never mentioned before is offered for sale at our favorite fictional grip mercantile. Will there be a third update to the Captains of Crush book? Since he forgot to mention this mystery gripper in the first two editions. ;)

We have noticed an inordinate amount of postings on our beloved grip forum inquiring about Joe Kinney's training methods and the "secret weapon" etc lately. We wonder about these dubious posts and their origins. The GB has it's share of brutally strong lads who have excelled on the platform where it counts. Seek out their advice and pay attention.

Too fucking busy to post lately.
No workouts missed. Good to see the "yungins" discussing the "retired" NFL strength coach and exploring the meaning of "Word is Bond".
Started to key on credit card closes. With 7.375 inch hands it's a struggle to find "the spot". When opening to get the card in the thumb sided handle slips, and I run out of finger in the last 1/8-3/16. Need to set well back into thumb pad.
Right - Started strap holds today with #3. Strap is about 3/16". Credit Card position close, but no credit card insert. Solid bite into strap. Used 10 pounds for 6 singles.
Left - Plate pinching. Front delt is hit or miss. Need to warm up thoroughly.

Entire callous came off in one big flake on right thumb yesterday. It had same structure as a big toenail.

Finally 2 days without rain.
Managed to work in high volume of chins and dips this week.

Right - Pinch is on vacation and thumb web fucking torn to the bone. Deloaded with light plate pinching and high rep Titans.
Left - Crush - Grippers and Go Really. Working wide sets and 1" sets. Steadily coming back.
Started high rep levering this week.
Off to get poison ivy killer and a box of wine.

Many chins and dips before grip training. Used Spud belt with weight plus 5/8 inch chains draped over neck. The swing from belt and chains adds a great dimension.

We will say it again, the "mockery" rests entirely with IM, they selected the judges that approved the certifications. As for KTA, we have it, the "setting" demonstrates, what used to be the legal 1 inch close range. The same set that Nathan Holle demonstrates in the IM book, "Captains of Crush Grippers; What They Are and How to Close Them". We see a second edition of this book is coming this fall, let the redactions commence. ;)

If you want to close big grippers, you need to gain strength to plow through the last 1/4". Nothing
will work better than deep setting and concentrating on that range. Working no set with lighter grippers will only get you to a certain level. The room temperature IQ stance comparing MM setting to bench shirts holds no water.
Brookfield's writings are full of "setting the gripper" so you can get the best position for your hand size. As you begin murdering the "close" everything will come up.

New Equipment
Picked up the SPUD DIPPING BELT at EliteFTS this week. Will begin to work it in this weekend.
It is a top quality piece. EliteFTS is at the top of the mountain when it comes to service and product.
One thing they do not have is the PDA Blobette. This piece is well worth it if you are chasing the BLOB. Get one.

Now to splurge the AdSense Benjamins on Cigarbid. :)

Who is not surprised that the former legend is now claiming an "Official World Record" on the "Axle" Deadlift, by one of his acolytes? OFFICIAL WORLD RECORDS are done at sanctioned contests, with sanctioned officials, not at fucking barbecues. We anxiously await the results to be posted at Ironmind. ;)

Finished up prednisone yesterday for poison ivy. The regimen was murder, but it worked. No pus for 2 days.
Managed to do many dips and chins this week. Did grip everyday. Prednisone wacked strength down.

Past Week
Making steady improvement with left hand rehab. Hauled out Hardy Handshake. Left has been Go Really, Titans and Hardy Handshake. Keep your hand right at the pivot point when using the HH, the leverage is the meanest here. I've found that by concentrating on the last 2 fingers, mitigates the tendency to cheat. I finally have a use for the old 1 inch plates that are lying all over the cellar. Swelling is way down.
Right - Still concentrating on plate pinching with added weight (York 45's + PlateMates).
Get the Horne DVD. Concentrating on the "palm squeeze" will pay off.

Murdered all week. Vmware ESX is my new mistress.
Did not miss any workouts. Followed same template. Improving on new model Rolling Thunder. For me, it feels as if fingertips and wrists are the biggest factors.
We just caught up on the IM news from the 24th. It looks like they are doing their own grip contests, with the assistance from some strongman federation. We will leave the "conspiracy theories" to others for now. ;) It's interesting to follow the time line of the drop-outs from the WD'all contest, the silence from the former legend, and one of the drop-outs claiming he never committed and the other two not knowing they dropped out.

On the Road
Still vacationing.
Caught up on the regular interval of who will TNS the #4, and the always co-joined subject of Joe Kinney.
We have no doubt Kinney closed a #4, but with the history of earlier IM grippers varying wildly in resistance, this #4 could very well have been a 3.5. When it was tested by IM and found to be "full strength" by IM, we ask, how was it tested? Did a #2 closer give it a squeeze and declare it harder than a #3? Was a "redneck" type calibrator used? Or did a former legend just declare it a #4 from long distance?

These records have been on a continuous ascent since we've been a member of our beloved grip forum. Our niche sport is now hitting numbers that a few years ago were considered impossible. The former legends and kings are having a difficult time struggling with their egos. We'll say it again - "Fucking Nut Bags". ;)
And what the fuck is wrong with fucking neoprene elbow sleeves? Every photo I have ever seen of Slim the Hammerman, has him wearing those goofy B&D leather wrist braces. Does that mean he has never officially performed any of his feats?

Blob - Double Farmer's Walk Record Broken!
We just saw the video. HOLY SHIT. The Natural guy destroyed the long standing 90 foot record using a pair of GordonV BLOB50's. Well done.
We could not help but notice the sour grapes that spewed from the FORMER grip legend that the record is not official since his particular blobs were not used. We say BULLSHIT. The GordonV's are modeled after the old original York Blobs. We own 2, we know what we are talking about. THERE IS NO FLATTER SIDE. If you dominate the BLOB50's, you will dominate all comers.
Again to parapharase and esteemed gripster - A FUCKING BLOB IS A FUCKING BLOB.

What is with all the whining about the Grip Nationals? All of a sudden it's too far? Out of the way? Towanda, PA is fine. The fucking Little League World series is held down the road every year, in the shithole that is Williamsport. ;) I have yet to hear the Koreans complain about going to Williamsport.
As for the time is was held at the "Former Legend's" facility, that appeared to us as more of a tribute to the former legend than a National Championship.
Fuck the hand size debate also.
Also if you want to be recognized, compete through the recognized grip contests, and avoid self righteous rants.
Should strength challenges, like the Grip Gauntlet, be qualifiers for the Nationals? NO. Of course anyone who accomplishes it, is STRONG but there is NO formalization with the present setup.
What is the time limit between attempts? How many attempts are allowed?

recent blob challenge thread. We have 2 GordonV BLOB50 replica's here. There is NO flatter side.
The texture is nearly smooth all over. Yet somehow, some "legends" continue to
denegrate lifting this fucking tormenting piece of iron. Years ago on our favorite forum when there were a handful of Blob lifters all was cool, now that our little niche sport has grown, the "legends" are getting testy.
